What is your Christmas gift for Nicaraguan children?

Wear your Christmas sweater at your Philips office on Dec 17th and raise awareness for Nicaraguan children.

The majority of Nicaragua’s poorest families live in rural areas more than three hours away from the nearest health post. Children do not get diagnosed nor treated at all.

The goal is to raise €1000, which will be doubled by Philips Foundation. Save the Children invests the raised fund in establishing a network of local health workers. In this way, we from Philips support access to health care in areas where this is most needed.

Background

Save the Children invests the raised fund in establishing a network of local health workers for Nicaraguan children. The majority of Nicaragua's poorest families live in remote rural areas more than three hours away from the nearest health post. The Integrated Community Case Management (iCMM) strategy of Save the Children establishes a network of local volunteers - localle called brigadistas - trained to assess, classify and treat diseases affecting children such as pneumonia, dysentery and diarrhea. The strategy also includes local frontline workers and families to recognize and promtly seek appropriate care for sick children
